The Geosynthetics Materials Association (GMA) announced June 23, 2018, an agreement with the Geosynthetic Institute (GSI), bringing new educational benefits to GMA members.

“The Geosynthetic Materials Association (GMA) has agreed to publicize the Geosynthetic Institute’s (GSI) online webinars and courses and, as such, will be giving its members the same discounted fees as with GSI members,” Dr. Robert M. Koerner, founder and director emeritus of GSI, said. “Presently, there are 27 webinars and 3 courses, all of which are on various geosynthetic topics. They generally cover applications, design, testing, installation or field performance.”

The discounted fees for webinars and courses apply to all GMA member companies and their employees. GSI will host the next webinar, “Geotextile Filters: Concerns and Issues,” on July 11, 2018. GSI will host the next course, “Quality Assurance/Quality Control of Geosynthetics in Waste Containment Facilities,” Oct. 16–18, 2018.

“Part of GMA’s mission is to provide engineering support and educational programming,” Jonathan Curry, managing director of GMA, said. “GMA does this by creating networks to exchange information, solve common problems and develop mutually beneficial relationships.”

GMA member companies and their employees will receive discounts, opportunities to earn PDHs and direct communications regarding upcoming webinars and courses.

“Promoting GSI’s educational programing will help grow the geosynthetics industry in North America and worldwide through education,” Curry said. “Online programing such as this provides a forum to rapidly transfer knowledge and best practices pertaining to geosynthetics around the globe, and GMA is looking forward to promoting the valuable work of Dr. Koerner and the Geosynthetic Institute.”
