Puncture resistance

RE: Puncture resistance
We are proposing four consecutive layers of 16oz./yd2 geotextile overlying the geomembrane in the leachate pipe V-notch collection trench. Would you equate the puncture resistance of the four geotextile layers to one 64oz./yd2 geotextile? What are your thoughts? Thank you again!

Reply: Yes, I would indeed. In fact, the way a manufacturer would make such a thick fabric is to needlepunch each thinner layer and then do a secondary needling to put the multiple layers together.

Incidentally, all of the very thick fabrics we used in conducting the puncture resistance research was also done in this manner. Thanks for asking.
