Any suggestions on the type of geogrid or geoweb fabric I can use for shaping and reinforcing thin-shell concrete domes?

(Ted | USA)

Ted,
You ask a great question and one that I have not had since I wrote a small book in 1980. The shaping part of your question is not apparent to me but the reinforcing part has possibilities and is described in the book I mentioned. It is out of print now but Marilyn Ashley will scan the pages and send them to you.

Briefly, both fibers and fabrics have been used. Regarding fibers, many types have been used and a table gives particulars. Regarding geogrids, the apertures opening size has to be matched with the aggregate size and there is subsequent work in this regard.

Anyway, the answer is “yes” to the reinforcing part of your question and “I don’t know” to the shaping part.

Hope this helps.
