Arizona Public Service cited the company’s work at Palo Verde Nuclear Station
Arizona Public Service (APS), the state’s largest electricity utility, recently recognized six of its suppliers—including American Environmental Group (AEG)—as “outstanding business partners.”
AEG is an Ohio-based company that provides specialty construction and construction management services to select solid waste, environmental, and industrial clients. APS, in particular, cited AEG’s geosynthetic liner installations at the Palo Verde Nuclear Station near Tonopah, Ariz. Providing electricity to 1.1 million customers across more than 34,000 square miles “requires business partners who can supply equipment, produce and deliver materials, and share expertise across a variety of industries,” stated an Oct. 10 APS press release.
The release noted that in 2012, APS spent $1.2 billion with more than 4,000 different business partners. It recognized the six companies “for delivering exceptional value to APS and its customers, while also exhibiting a strong commitment to the company’s values.”
The six companies are: American Environmental Group Ltd., The Babcock & Wilcox Co., En Pointe Technologies, Klondyke Construction LLC, Superior Workforce Solutions Inc., and Veterans Security.
“Through their actions, these companies have demonstrated a dedication to customer service and a commitment to providing additional value to their relationship with APS,” said Barbara Gomez, APS vice president and chief procurement officer.
The press release said that AEG was recognized for “consistently meet[ing] the needs and expectations of APS while achieving results that exceed industry standards. Working closely with APS engineers and an independent quality contractor, AEG developed a system to improve the process for welding two sheets of liner material together. The result [was] enhanced quality and increased cost-effectiveness of the [geosynthetic] liner installation project at the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station.”
APS, with headquarters in Phoenix, is the principal subsidiary of Pinnacle West Capital Corp. (NYSE: PNW).
