HDPE & LLDPE rates

RE: HDPE & LLDPE rates
I have always been under the impression that in using field tensiometers on jobsites that the rates for HDPE and LLDPE are different —HDPE at 2in./min. and LLDPE at 20in./min.

However, I don’t have any documentation to back this up. Can you provide me with any guide for that or, at the very least, clarify the question for me as I suppose there is a good chance that I am wrong on this?

Thanks in advance for your help,
(Dale | Canada)

Reply: Good to hear from you and particularly to tell you that you are correct.

According to ASTM D6392, the elongation rate for HDPE should be 2.0ipm and for LLDPE it should be 20.0ipm. For documentation, reference the ASTM Standard.
