Belgium-based BontexGeo acquires Geotexan, which has a strong presence in Spain, other countries in the European Union and South America.
The BontexGeo Group of Zele, Belgium, a manufacturer focusing on the production and sale of geosynthetics for civil engineering applications, will acquire 100 % of the shares of Geotexan S.A., a Minas de Riotinto, Spain, based company specializing in the production and sale of geosynthetics and fibers with a strong market position in Spain. Through this acquisition, which was completed on March 21, BontexGeo improves it geographical presence across Europe.
Geotexan S.A. is a market-leading company in Spain, specializing in the development, production and sale of nonwoven geotextiles, as well as other geosynthetics and fibers. It has a leading role in one of the largest countries in Europe with sales reaching into South America.
“This acquisition provides our group the possibility to further establish a strong position throughout Europe and creates a strong gateway into the Iberian Peninsula,” says Rob van der Valk, managing director of BontexGeo Group. “The addition of Geotexan to our group is in line with our strategy to strengthen and further develop our market-leading position in Europe. Geotexan and its portfolio form a great addition to the BontexGeo Group and will allow us to continue to build on the success of both companies.”

“Over the last 18 years we have worked hard to become a key player in Spain and now it is time to take our company to the next level,” says Enrique Figueroa Yáñez, general manager of Geotexan S.A. “Becoming part of the BontexGeo Group allows us to look toward a future in which we will have a stronger position and network to continue to grow.”
Geotexan will remain operational under the same name, as part of the BontexGeo Group. Yáñez will remain in his current position with his team.
