Concrete Canvas signs Titan as new exclusive sales partner for Canada

News | April 25, 2019 | By:

Concrete Canvas Ltd. (Concrete Canvas), manufacturer and inventor of the innovative Concrete Canvas® Geosynthetic Cementitious Composite Mat (GCCM), and Titan Environmental Containment Ltd. (Titan), a leading Canadian geosynthetics supplier, are pleased to announce that they have entered into a distribution agreement granting Titan exclusive rights to distribute Concrete Canvas in Canada.

UK-based Concrete Canvas Ltd. began manufacturing innovative GCCMs in 2005 and first brought their Concrete Canvas product to the Canadian market with Nuna Innovations Inc. (Nuna), a former division of the Nuna Group of Companies. Concrete Canvas is a flexible concrete impregnated fabric that hardens on hydration to form a thin, durable, waterproof and fire-resistant concrete layer. This allows concrete construction without the need for plant or mixing equipment. The geosynthetic cementitious composite mat consists of a three-dimensional fiber matrix containing a specially formulated dry concrete mix. A PVC backing on one surface of the cloth ensures the material is completely waterproof. The material can be hydrated either by spraying or by being fully immersed in water. Once set, the fibers reinforce the concrete, preventing crack propagation and providing a safe plastic failure mode.

Concrete Canvas has several core applications, with the Canadian market being focused to date on channel lining in the mining sector. Other applications include, but are not limited to, bund lining, slope protection, weed suppression and remediation of existing concrete infrastructure.

“We look forward to establishing a long-term collaborative relationship with Titan, who are a rapidly growing, dynamic and powerful force in the Canadian geosynthetic market,” said Will Crawford, director of Concrete Canvas.
The new partnership between Titan and Concrete Canvas is based upon a mutual desire to develop and market innovative geosynthetic products for the civil and infrastructure sectors.

“We are thrilled to have been selected as the new exclusive Canadian distributor for Concrete Canvas and continue to build on Nuna’s legacy from the previous 8 years,” says Juice Lambert, vice president of sales for Titan. “As a progressive company, we are continuously seeking to grow and elevate our offerings to better serve our clients in a multitude of sectors. We really see Concrete Canvas as complementing our existing suite of products and are excited to make this available beyond mining into the agricultural, municipal, civil and infrastructure sectors.”

To support this venture Titan has opened a new 4,200-square-foot location in Squamish, British Columbia, complete with office and shop space; and has added two new members to its team, Ron Drewry and Rebecca Spitzer, who are dedicated to Concrete Canvas sales. The product will be available from all Titan locations across Canada.
