Presenter Timothy D. Stark, Ph.D.

On Nov. 7, 2017, the Geosynthetic Materials Association (GMA) and the Fabricated Geomembrane Institute (FGI) will offer the webinar “Fabrication, Installation and Testing of Geomembranes” discussing the types of geomembranes that can be fabricated in the factory and subsequently transported to the field for installation and testing. The webinar begins at 12:00 p.m. EST and is free to industry professionals.

Factory fabrication can result in shorter construction times and costs, higher-quality seams and a more-effective completed liner system. Most fabricated geomembranes are less susceptible to wrinkling due to increased dimensional stability and flexibility, which leads to heightened contact with the subgrade and less risk of damage or wrinkle entrapment during soil covering.

This webinar will focus on factory and field quality assurance/quality control testing, such as seam, seam shear and peel strength testing. The webinar will also cover the use of electrical leak location surveys prior to and/or after soil covering.

Timothy D. Stark, Ph.D., a professor of civil and environmental engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an expert in geotechnical engineering, will present the webinar. Dr. Stark is the technical director of FGI. Andy Durham, a senior geosynthetics engineer at Owens Corning and a member of the GMA executive council, will moderate the session.
