FGI short course in civil engineering upcoming

The Fabricated Geomembrane Institute (FGI) will offer the short course “Geosynthetics in Civil Engineering Applications” on Oct. 27, 2017, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EDT at The Ohio State University in Columbus.

The short course, presented in partnership with The Ohio State University, Owens Corning Science and Technology, Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and the Ohio Department of Transportation, will focus on geosynthetics applications including water resources, containment, dams and conveyance, roadways, landfills, coal combustion residuals, MSE walls and more.

Organized by Timothy D. Stark, PhD, a professor of civil engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the course is designed for anyone involved with the design, construction, operation, ownership or regulatory oversight of geomembrane-lined or -covered facilities, including water, mining, waste and petroleum containment.

On Oct. 26, 2017, the day before the short course, attendees can tour Owen’s Corning’s Granville, Ohio, factory, with a complimentary shuttle to/from Columbus available if needed.

Course attendees will receive 7.5 PDHs.
