November 14th, 2016 / By: / Industry News, News

News reports from Washington, D.C., confirm that Martin Whitmer from the firm Whitmer & Worrall (W&W) is on the transition team for President-elect Donald Trump.

Whitmer is a founding partner of Whitmer & Worrall LLC, a government relations and strategic consulting firm headquartered in D.C.

Experts on transportation and environmental issues, Whitmer, and his colleagues, have represented the Geosynthetic Materials Association (GMA) on Capitol Hill for more than a decade.

Whitmer is overseeing “transportation and infrastructure” for the Trump transition team, which was outlined in a list distributed widely in Washington on Thursday.

W&W has hosted GMA members’ biannual Lobby Days since 2006, and has supported GMA’s efforts as a champion of the geosynthetics industry including:

  • face-to-face meetings with U.S. senators, representatives, and their staff members to inform and educate on behalf of geosynthetic manufacturers, distributors, and installers.
  • placing specific “geosynthetics language” into the Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA) of 2014 and the 2015 Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act.
  • arranging meetings with more than a dozen state DOTs.
  • sponsoring regional geosynthetics short courses in concert with IGS-NA (formerly the North American Geosynthetics Association—NAGS) and the Geosynthetic Institute (GSI).
  • supporting GMA’s ongoing relationships with state transportation and environmental departments, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), the National Transportation Product Evaluation Program (NTPEP), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE), and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), among many other state and national organizations.
