Imagine IM signs MOU with TenCate Geosynthetics

In an Oct. 4 press release, Pacific American Coal Limited (PAK) announced that Imagine Intelligent Materials (Imagine IM) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with TenCate Geosynthetics.

Sydney, Australia-based PAK holds a 40% equity interest in Imagine IM. The release stated that “Imagine IM is expanding the commercialization opportunities for graphene-based geotextile coatings into the USA market.”

The press release continued: “[The] next step is to modify the imgne X3 masterbatch to suit TenCate’s materials and confirm performance in field trials … [with] progression of Imagine IM’s capability, taking it from polyester (PET) nonwoven geotextiles into polypropylene geotextiles.”

The release did note that TenCate does not currently offer a leak-detection product. “By demonstrating that their nonwoven geotextiles can be adapted to become a leak-detection solution, Imagine IM intends to prove that imgne X3 can be modified to be effective when coated on polypropylene geotextiles, and so that TenCate can determine whether entry into the leak-detection market is warranted.”

The press release concluded: “Imagine IM is focused on developing functionalized graphene to deliver conductivity to textiles and synthetic materials for industry and consumer applications, enabling materials to both sense and communicate information about stress, temperature, and moisture.”
