Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Raven Industries’ Engineered Films Division (EFD) announced in a press release last week that it has installed a new seven-layer cast extrusion lamination line.

The press release noted: “Designed with leading-edge technology, the new line boasts advanced wide-width cast capabilities for both sheet extrusion and reinforced composite structures as wide as 150in., ranging from 4 mil to 80 mil in thickness.”

The release said that these added capabilities “will further drive expansion for Raven’s wide-width reinforced geomembranes used in environmental protection for critical containment applications.”

The new line is capable of processing advanced barrier structures designed specifically to prevent the migration of radon, methane, odors, and hazardous volatile organic compounds (VOCs), according to the press release. New features include “the addition of two individual extrusion dies to process low- and high-viscosity resin types. The separate dies enable production of custom-engineered fabric composites, scrim-reinforced membranes and integrated release liners.”

“This line provides an opportunity for Raven to partner with our customers in the development of some truly unique products with exceptional value propositions,” stated Anthony Schmidt, vice president and general manager for Raven’s EFD.
