“Critical elements in specifying underslab moisture & gas barriers”
Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Raven Industries’ Engineered Films Division announced in a Feb. 3 press release that it now offers a new, free online distance learning course approved by the American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System (AIA CES).
The course, “Critical elements in specifying underslab moisture & gas barriers,” is a guide covering the critical elements for specifying underslab moisture and gas barriers to create healthy environments in commercial buildings and residential homes by preventing moisture and gas migration including radon, methane, and harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The course is listed under MasterFormat division 07000-Thermal and Moisture Protection, 07260-Vapor Retarders.
The press release said that Raven partnered with AEC Daily, an e-learning company to release this free online course available 24/7. The course is accessible through, as well as the AEC Daily online learning center, which offers users continuing education courses on architecture and engineering topics geared toward the construction industry. These courses are free and approved by the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), Green Build Certification Institute (GBCI), and others.
The release noted that the Raven one-hour course meets health, safety, and welfare (HSW) content requirements and, upon completion, provides participants with 1.0 AIA CES HSW/LU (learning unit) hour.
