Raven introduces new scrim-reinforced geomembranes

Raven Industries is now offering a new geomembrane product line—the Dura-Skrim Textured K-Series, described in a recent company press release.

Produced through Raven’s Engineered Films Division (EFD), the release said that the “Dura-Skrim Textured K-Series is a unique textured reinforced geomembrane available in polyethylene or flexible polypropylene and is the first of this type in the industry.” The product is manufactured using a cast-extrusion process to achieve a consistent core thickness with uniform asperity heights, according to the release.

The product’s GeoGrip surface technology consists of a random spike pattern with bidirectional bars for stabilization and an increased friction between soil and geosynthetic layers, allowing for steeper slope designs. Products in the K-Series are designed for applications requiring exceptional slope stability such as landfill caps, mining leach pads, and containment ponds, the release stated.

Raven said the K-Series geomembranes are available in mill rolls or fabricated panels.

“We had consistently received requests for a textured reinforced membrane and engineered our product around this customer feedback to develop our new product line,” said Jim Groninger, vice president and general manger for Raven’s EFD.

The K-Series is currently available in single or double-side textured 36-mil and 45-mil and is sold in a variety of widths and lengths to meet project requirements, the press release said. Large-diameter mill rolls are available as well as factory welded one-piece drop-in panels.
