Mattex enters U.S. market

News | June 1, 2009 | By:

Mattex USA has entered the geosynthetics business. A fabric producer with plants in Dubai UAE, and in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Mattex has produced carpet backing and industrial wovens for 10 years and has been selling to customers in the U.S. for more than four years.

With reception for the company’s woven fabrics, Mattex USA said it has progressed into heavier woven fabrics and also the geosynthetics market. The company is currently producing and importing AASHTO-class woven slit film geotextiles up to 17.5 feet wide from Dubai. Future plans include the development of a spectrum of woven geotextiles and, ultimately, nonwovens through company growth and possible acquisitions, according to Mark Marienfeld, P.E., a 25-year veteran in the U.S. geotextile market, who joined Mattex in 2008.
