The 89th sessions of the Transportation Research Board will be held Jan. 10-14, 2010, in Washington, D.C.
Call Title: Innovations in Geosynthetic Drainage Technologies; Sponsoring Committee: AFS60 – Subsurface Drainage; Co-Sponsoring Committee(s): AFS70 – Geosynthetics; Call organizer: Dr. John C. Stormont (jcstorm@unm.edu”).
This session solicits papers dealing with innovative applications of geosynthetics to provide drainage in pavement and other transportation-related structures, such as design, construction, effectiveness, and costs of drainage systems that utilize geosynthetics. Case studies are especially encouraged.
Please indicate AFS60 or AFS70 on the Submission Review form to indicate that the paper is being submitted in response to this call for papers.
Call Title: Use of Geosynthetics in Emergency Response and Accelerated Construction; Sponsoring Committee: AFS70 – Geosynthetics; Call organizers: Daniel Alzamora and Khalid Farrag (daniel.alzamora@fhwa.dot.gov and khalid.farrag@gastechnology.org).
This session solicits papers addressing the design, construction, and QA/QC procedures that demonstrate how geosynthetics have been successfully used in the emergency response and accelerated construction situations; and how the application reduced time and costs or improved safety and constructability of the system.
Call Title: Behavior of Geosynthetic Reinforced Structures Subjected to Dynamic Loading; Sponsoring Committee: AFS70 – Geosynthetics; Call organizers: Dov Leshchinsky and Bernard Myles (dov@udel.edu and bmylesgeo@aol.com).
This session solicits papers that quantify dynamic properties of geosynthetics, design calculations, and relevant construction. Possible topics include but are not limited to: lab and field dynamic tests on geosynthetics, lab and field dynamic tests on earth structures reinforced with geosynthetics, and case histories documenting seismic performance or impact of repeated loading.
Authors interested in submitting papers are advised to visit www.trb.org and review the Information for Authors. Authors submitting papers in response to this Call for Papers should submit full papers for peer review to the TRB online at www.trb.org by Aug. 1, 2009.
