Geotextile form bags used to help end defects in factory-built houses

California-based Sure Safe EFS has announced that its engineered foundation system has proven effective in eliminating defects caused by improper settling of factory-built modular homes on faulty foundations.

One of the keys to the system is that when all of the steel buttresses are in place below the structure, the base of the steel piers is inserted into geotextile form footing bags 3-5in. above the grade (Photo 1). Next, ready-mixed concrete is pumped into the geotextile form bags. This brings the steel buttress piers into alignment with the center of gravity as the form footing bag molds itself to the shape of the ground below (Photo 2).
