The Geo-Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers announced in its November 2015 issue of the G-I E-Update the appointment of Brad Keelor as its new staff director.

Keelor comes to ASCE from the British Embassy, where he was a senior science and innovation policy advisor from 2008–2015. His role there was to facilitate U.K.–U.S. research collaboration in scientific and technical disciplines.

The G-I E-Update said that prior to the embassy position, Keelor was at three technical societies for eight years: the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the American Geophysical Union, and the Society for Neuroscience. At all three societies, he performed a mix of government relations, K-12 education, professional development, and careers roles.

Keelor has an international relations B.A. from Saint Joseph’s University and an M.A. from George Mason University in international commerce and policy.

In his free time, Keelor said he “runs (but not competitively, just for fun), coaches his son’s basketball team, and is an extremely small-time fisherman.” He lives in Northern Virginia with his wife, Janina, and two children.
