New line to increase capacity, offer 5.25m widths

Production and finishing equipment designed specifically to hold the different components of its production line for needle-punched nonwoven materials are now installed in Texel’s new $15 million, 35,000-square-foot facility extension in Sainte-Marie, Quebec, the company announced in a March press release.

The new multifunctional equipment, manufactured by the Germany-based Dilo Group, will help Texel increase its production capacity by more than 7,000 metric tonnes of transformed fibers per year, according to the release. The new line will also allow for the manufacturing of products with a width of 5.25 meters, considered the largest in the needle-punched geotextile industry in North America, the release noted.

This investment is part of Texel’s plans to modernize its equipment and to develop its six major product platforms. Increasing its overall production capacity will allow the company to meet demands from the geotextile, industrial, and automotive market segments and to open the way for new business opportunities in Canada and the United States.
