GMA Spring Lobby Day postponed

Events, News | April 15, 2020 | By:

GMA’s Spring 2020 Lobby Day in Washington, D.C. will be postponed to a later date due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. GMA and Whitmer & Worrall are continuously monitoring the congressional schedule with plans to reschedule the fly-in for later this summer. We are also planning to move forward with a fall 2020 fly-in with dates to be announced.

Although meetings are not taking place in person, congressional staff are implementing measures to ensure the continuity of operations in a teleworking environment. Congressional staff are taking meetings via conference call and are responding to constituent email communications.

Congressional staff are also available and open to discussing issues outside of the COVID-19 crisis as only a handful of offices are negotiating the stimulus bills. Congressional offices are sending a message to their constituents that they continue to do the “people’s work” during the crisis and want to engage in other priority issue areas on an ongoing basis.

GMA and Whitmer & Worrall are hosting virtual meetings with congressional offices to highlight the association’s priorities in the upcoming surface transportation re-authorization. It is important that GMA continues to engage congressional offices on the value of geosynthetics in highway, aviation and water resources infrastructure.
