Solmax begins construction of European geosynthetics center

News | May 5, 2026 | By:

Solmax has begun construction of its flagship European geosynthetics manufacturing site in Les Mureaux, France, near Paris, marking a significant step in the company’s long-term investment in Europe.

The eight-hectare site will bring together Solmax’s European nonwoven geotextile operations into a single, modernized facility, designed to support the full breadth of geosynthetic applications — from major infrastructure projects to landscaping and agricultural uses.

By consolidating expertise and capabilities under one roof, Solmax said it aims to accelerate innovation, enhance customer support, and deliver more responsive, solution-driven service to the European market.

The facility itself will also function as a real-world demonstration of geosynthetic engineering. Solmax solutions will be incorporated throughout the site’s construction and infrastructure, illustrating how geosynthetics reinforce, stabilize, filter, and protect civil works in practice.

Production currently based in Linz, Austria, and Bezons, France, will be integrated into Les Mureaux. The location was selected for its strong industrial base, excellent logistics connectivity, and position within the Île-de-France industrial ecosystem.

“Les Mureaux represents the next chapter in Solmax’s European manufacturing journey,” said Bob Gilligan, President and CEO of Solmax. “By combining decades of expertise with state-of-the-art production capabilities, this site will strengthen our ability to deliver high-performance geosynthetic solutions and support resilient infrastructure across Europe and beyond.” The Les Mureaux manufacturing center is scheduled to become operational by the end of the year.
