The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials is seeking nominations for its President’s Transportation Awards and the AASHTO Awards of Excellence, presented every year at the organization’s annual meeting.

AASHTO said state DOT chief executive officers can submit up to five nominations for the President’s Transportation Awards, which measure by how closely the work of those nominees aligns with the 2021-2026 AASHTO Strategic Plan.
Successful nominations will best showcase the individuals or teams and how they lived the AASHTO mission, vision, or goals/objectives outlined in that strategic plan. Only state DOT employees are eligible to win a President’s Transportation Award.
Meanwhile, AASHTO Awards of Excellence recognize individuals or teams who have performed exemplary service that benefit transportation regionally or nationally. Nominations for the AASHTO Awards of Excellence should be submitted by state DOT chief executive officers and, again, only state DOT employees are eligible.
The awards process is conducted online via these links: President’s Transportation Awards and AASHTO Awards of Excellence, which includes the Alfred E. Johnson Achievement Award, Thomas H. MacDonald Memorial Award, and Francis B. Francois Award for Innovation.
Each nomination must be entered in AASHTO’s online portal and the nomination process closes May 15.
