Industry veteran Daniel Alzamora, P.E., has joined Geosynthetics magazine as a contributing editor.
Alzamora, who has 35 years of geotechnical engineering experience, will be providing content for the magazine, as well as helping to guide the editorial direction of the publication and website.
“We’re thrilled to have Daniel come on board with Geosynthetics,” said Jonathan Sweet, director of content and member programs at the Advanced Textiles Association, which publishes Geosynthetics. “His wealth of knowledge and experience will be a great benefit for the readers and the industry.”
Most recently, Alzamora spent two decades with the Federal Highway Administration, serving as a senior geotechnical engineer. As part of his duties, he provided technical support on the development of the National Highway Institute course (132013) and Reference Manual (FHWA-NHI-07-092) “Geosynthetics Design and Construction Guidelines.” Before that, he worked in the private sector, including stints in consulting, as well as with a geosynthetic manufacturer. Alzamora has also been an active member of the geosynthetics committees for the Transportation Research Board and for the Geo-Institute.
“During my 35-year career I have seen the use of geosynthetics grow into many applications improving the efficiency of projects and in many cases making them possible,” Alzamora said. “I am happy to have the opportunity to contribute to content in the Geosynthetics magazine.”
