News | March 18, 2025 | By:

Fabricated Geomembrane Institute (FGI) presents the webinar – Geosynthetic Covers to Reduce Leachate Generation and Costs – on April 8, 2025 at noon CDT. The presenters are Patrick Elliott of Viaflex and Dan Rohe of Environmental Protection, Inc. (EPI). It is free to industry professionals and students,  a 1.0 PDH is available, and you can register here.

This webinar will describe the use of cover systems over wastes and leachate lagoons to reduce leachate generation and costs. In particular, if rain/clean water falls on wastes or a leachate lagoon, it becomes contaminated and must be treated. Covering wastes or a lagoon prevents fresh water from becoming leachate thus dramatically reducing the cost and amount of water that must be treated.

Patrick Elliott is the director of installation services at Colorado Lining International (CLI), a Viaflex company. Viaflex is a leading manufacturer of high-performance geomembranes providing full-scale conversion, custom fabrication, design-build solutions, and certified installation of geosynthetics. Elliott and his team are active members of the International Association of Geosynthetic Installers (IAGI) and the FGI. He has a multitude of industry experiences and understands the liner business from the ground up with over 25 years in geosynthetics installation.

Dan Rohe is president of Environmental Protection, Inc. and a graduate of Michigan State University. He’s been involved in the factory fabrication and installation of geomembranes at EPI for over 20 years and oversaw the Columbus UpGround Reservoir Project. He is an active member of several professional organizations including ASTM Committee D-35 and the Geosynthetic Research Institute (GRI).
