The New Zealand Geotechnical Society will host Dr. Sanjay Kumar Shukla, a world-renowned expert in Civil (Geotechnical) Engineering, to discuss Geosynthetic Application Guidelines for Ground Infrastructures on July 11, 2022.
The webinar will focus on several general aspects of applications of geosynthetics, namely geosynthetic selection and test methods, protection before application, site preparation, geosynthetic installation, joints, cutting of geosynthetics on site, protection during construction and service life, damage correction, anchorage, prestressing and maintenance. The talk aims at helping geosynthetic users and professionals develop confidence in sustainable applications of geosynthetics in civil, mining, agriculture and aquacultural engineering as the world is looking for the net-zero environment.
Geosynthetics are used as one of the major construction materials for civil, mining and other related engineering practices. Their use offers technically efficient, cost-effective, sustainable, environment-friendly and/or energy-efficient alternative solutions to many field problems. The successful application of geosynthetics in ground infrastructures depends on many general application aspects in addition to methods of analysis, design and construction of geosynthetic-reinforced ground infrastructures.
Dr. Sanjay Kumar Shukla is Founding Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Geosynthetics and Ground Engineering, Springer Nature, Switzerland, and Founding Research Group Leader (Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering) at Edith Cowan University (ECU), Perth, Australia. He holds the Distinguished Professorship of Civil Engineering at nine universities, including Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai and Delhi Technological University, Delhi, India.
He has over 25 years of experience in teaching, research, consultancy, administration/management, and professional engagement. He is registered as Chartered Professional Engineer in Civil and Geotechnical Engineering, Engineers Australia, Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Engineer in Civil Engineering, and International Professional Engineer in Civil Engineering, International Engineering Association. He collaborates with several world-class universities, research institutions, industries and individuals on academic and field projects. As a consulting geotechnical engineer, he has successfully provided solutions to the challenging field problems faced by many engineering organizations.
He has authored more than 290 research papers and technical articles. He is also an author/editor of 24 books, including seven textbooks and 23 book chapters. During 2020-2022, his ICE textbooks, namely Core Principles of Soil Mechanics and Core Concepts of Geotechnical Engineering, have been ranked #1 by Amazon. His research and academic works have been cited well. Free Webinar Registration available here
