The International Erosion Control Association (IECA) announced winners for its environmental excellence awards during the joint 2021 IECA Virtual Annual Conference and Expo/Virtual Geosynthetics Conference 2021 in February.
The IECA awards program recognizes outstanding achievements in the erosion and sediment control and stormwater industries. This year’s awards recognized young professionals under 30 and under 40, sustained partners, outstanding professional, sustained contributor and the environmental excellence award.
Young professionals under 30 years old and under 40 years old are recognized for their stormwater and erosion and sediment control projects, programs or academics that demonstrates excellence in natural resource conservation and environmental protection. This year’s winners in the Three Under 30 category are Dakota Basham, CPESC; Jacob Bucher; and Dr. Lan Liu. Winners in the Four Under 40 category are Jacob Burkey, P.E.; Stefano Rignanese; Matt Welch, CPESC, CESSWI; and Blake Whitman, Ph.D., P.E., CPESC.
This sustained contributor award recognizes a company that has provided support to IECA and has made outstanding contributions to improve the erosion and sediment control industry for a sustained number of years. Winners of this award have demonstrated long-term support to the stormwater and/or erosion and sediment control industry through IECA through one or more of the following: education, innovative industry products, research, establishment of standards or policies, or the development of technology. This year’s winner is Profile Products LLC.
The IECA outstanding professional award recognizes an IECA member as an individual or organization that demonstrates excellence in their work in the industry and is viewed by his/her IECA peers as an industry leader through significant engagement with IECA. This year’s winner is Michael Robeson, P.E., CPESC, CPSWQ, CESSWI.
The sustained contributor is an IECA member who has provided service to IECA and has made outstanding contributions to improve the erosion and sediment control industry for a sustained period. Winners of this award have demonstrated leadership by example through a significant and long-term contribution to the erosion and sediment control industry and to IECA through one or more of the following: education, government involvement, research, establishment of standards or policies or the development of technology. This year’s winner is Marc S. Theisen, M.Sc., CPESC, CPSWQ, CESSWI.
The environmental excellence award is IECA’s premier award. It recognizes an outstanding stormwater and erosion and sediment control project, program or operation that demonstrates excellence in natural resource conservation and environmental protection. Recipients have shown a high level of environmental benefit by clearly identifying the objectives, methods used, results obtained and details of the benefits to the environment. The winner is Rain City Vancouver.
