The Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) has published the complete program for S3: Slope-Support-Stabilization conference, Aug. 6–9, at The Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel, The Depot, Minn. It is available at www.dfi.org/S3-2019.

This technical conference, organized by eight DFI Technical Committees, focuses on the effective application of deep foundations, ground improvement and soil mixing for stabilization of slopes and excavation support. The state-of-the-practice technical program features presentations on design concepts; research; and case histories for challenging slope and landslide repairs, excavation support and slope stabilization projects using deep foundation and ground improvement methods. Specific focus is on challenging access conditions, groundwater effects, risk-based design and innovative applications.

The conference also features a 90-minute panel discussion and live webinar on the effective use of software for analyzing slope and landslide stabilization projects, being facilitated by Chris Ramsey, P.E., of Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions and chair of DFI’s Deep Foundations for Landslide and Slope Stabilization Committee. Providers of commonly used software packages will discuss, analyze and present solutions for the same real-world slope stabilization problem, discuss how the software was used to prepare various solutions, and provide tips on using packages to produce and validate solutions.

If you are unable to attend the event, you can still participate in the software discussion and panel webinar. Simply visit www.dfi.org/S3-2019 and register for the free webinar.

The event includes an exhibit area where up to 30 DFI member companies are exhibiting innovative products and services.

In conjunction with the seminar, the DFI Women in Deep Foundations Committee is hosting a baseball game fundraiser at Target Field for the Minnesota Twins vs. Atlanta Braves game on Tuesday evening, August 6. Tickets can be purchased during conference registration.
