On March 5, 2018, AGRU announced the Foreign Trade Center in Los Angeles of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber has declared the company the winner out of 17 companies from Austria to for top economic performance in the United States in the category of investment. The center honors outstanding achievements of Austrian companies in the highly competitive United States market. This marks the eighth year for the award, which is issued in six categories: startup, investment, innovation, market footprint, trendsetter and spectacular business.

“Winning this award is a great honor for AGRU America, as we have been spearheading our company’s efforts here in the United States,” says Robert Johnson, CEO and president of AGRU America Inc. “We are thrilled for the recognition and look forward to another successful year.”

The company said the award comes on the heels of AGRU’s latest addition to its North American production facilities, the XXL Pipe Production facility, which opened April 5, 2017, in Charleston, South Carolina. The state-of-the-art $40 million facility is capable of extruding the largest high-density polyethylene pipes in the world. Measuring over 138 inches (3,500 mm) diameter, these pipes can be directly extruded onto the water and transported over the ocean for cost-effective logistics.

AGRU America Inc. is a subsidiary of AGRU GmbH, an Austrian family-owned business since 1948 with production facilities in Austria, the United States, Germany, China and India.
