GSE Environmental announced Nov. 9, 2017, the issuance of U.S. Patent No. 9,518,176 B2 for its High Temperature Geomembrane Liners and Master Batch Compositions. The company said the GSE High Temperature Liner is their newest innovative geomembrane, specially engineered to withstand prolonged exposure to temperatures up to 212°F (100°C).
“The High Temperature Liner continues GSE’s history of developing and improving products in response to industry needs and through collaboration with our customers,” said Ed Zimmel, vice president of engineering at GSE. “It is through innovative new product development such as this, that GSE continues to be known as a pioneer in geosynthetics.”
According to GSE, when the temperature exceeds 140°F (60°C), property loss, oxidation and UV degradation are accelerated in standard polyethylene geomembranes, which can reduce strength properties. GSE’s team of engineers collaborated with resin producers to develop innovative HDPE resin formulations for use in high temperature applications. When used in conjunction with GSE’s proprietary high temperature stabilization formula, the result is a liner that delivers the same durability and chemical resistance as any GSE geomembrane and will retain these properties when exposed to sustained temperatures up to 212°F.
The company said GSE’s High Temperature Geomembrane has been used in numerous applications and industries around the world.
