Dr. George Koerner will deliver the second lecture in the Robert M. Koerner Award and Lecture Series at the Inaugural Geo-Carolinas Conference, hosted by the Geo-Carolinas Chapter of the Geo-Institute. The conference will take place October 9 and 10, 2017, in Charlotte, N.C. Koerner’s lecture, titled “Geosynthetic Successes Hidden in the Details,” focuses on “discussing examples encompassing manufacturing and field installation of such developments, pointing out specific elements that can reduce the probability of error.”

Established by the Geosynthetic Materials Association (GMA) in 2016, the award and lecture series is given to an individual who has had a measurable impact on the geosynthetics industry in North America. Recipients are also required to have a background in one or more of the following areas: education, design, or testing of geotextiles; geomembranes; geogrids; geonets; geosynthetic clay liners; and/or erosion control materials. GMA presented Dr. George Koerner with the first award for his monumental impact on the geosynthetics industry.

Koerner delivered the first lecture in the series on March 14, 2017, in Orlando, Fla., at the Geotechnical Frontiers Conference, hosted by the Industrial Fabrics Association International and the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Geo-Institute.
