FTA releases more than $12 billion for public transportation

On July 5, 2017, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) released more than $12 billion in formula and discretionary funds under the 2015 Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act (FAST) and the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2017.

The appropriations include money under the Metropolitan Transportation Planning Program, Urbanized Area Formula Program, Rural Areas Formula Program, Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals Program, the State of Good Repair program, and several other federal programs. The appropriation also releases more than $2.5 billion in capital investment grants for New Starts projects under Section 5309 of the FAST Act.
