The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has announced that the agency’s 2015 construction season resulted in an investment of more than $1 billion in state and local roads, bridges, trails, and traffic safety projects.
The mix of federal and state transportation funding, along with money from Gov. Mike Pence’s Major Moves 2020 program, allowed INDOT to invest aggressively in major projects to improve traffic flow, reduce travel times, and increase preservation work to enhance the condition of existing pavements and bridges.
In addition to INDOT’s construction program, the state also allocated more than $220 million to cities, towns, and counties to support local transportation projects.
