Shaw Industries Group Inc., a Dalton, Ga.-based carpet manufacturer and supplier of floorcoverings and synthetic turf, has increased its investment in Watershed Geosynthetics LLC of Alpharetta, Ga., according to a Sept. 10 press release from Watershed.
The release said that the additional investment will be used to build a sales and marketing team capable of driving growth, while increasing the company’s commitment to being a technical industry resource and innovator of environmental and civil solutions.
According to the press release: “A significant part of WatershedGeo’s success is attributed to alliances with manufacturers such as Shaw Industries with its expertise in woven, nonwoven, and tufted textiles, and Agru America,” a South Carolina-based manufacturer of geomembranes.
The press release noted that Shaw originally took an equity stake in Watershed in October 2011. During the last four years, Watershed has expanded its product line with multiple U.S. and international patents and patent-pending products for soil erosion, water conservation, and wall stabilization, including two recent patents for HydroTurf earth revetment systems and landfill gas collection and relief valves.
