Geomembrane manufacturer cited for workforce development
Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Raven Industries Inc. is one of several South Dakota companies currently featured in a state-wide profile in the March 2015 issue of Delta Airlines’ in-flight magazine, Sky. The 22-page special section concentrates primarily on business and travel in the Mount Rushmore State.
A member of the Geosynthetic Materials Association (GMA), a division of the Twin Cities-based Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI), Raven’s Engineered Films Division manufactures a wide variety of geomembranes.
The article notes that Raven is a publicly traded company that employs about 1,250 people, 900 in Sioux Falls.
The Sky article cites Raven for its workforce-development programs, including the opening of an office on the campus of two state universities that offer engineering curriculums-South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City and South Dakota State University in Brookings.
“We can’t imagine not doing business in South Dakota,” said Raven president and CEO Dan Rykhus.
