Geotechnical engineering conference offers special session on geosynthetics

Zornberg to deliver Mercer Lecture

15ARC-the 15th Asian Regional Conference presented by the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE)-will be held under the auspices of the Japanese Geotechnical Society (JGS) at the Fukuoka International Congress Center in Fukuoka, Kyushu, Japan Nov. 9-13, 2015.

The subtitle of this conference is “New Innovations and Sustainability”-indicating not only new technologies and methods in geotechnical engineering but also the sustainability of a better human life are the main topics of interest at this conference.

Special session on geosynthetics engineering
The Organizing Committee for 15ARC has received official support from the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS). The conference venue of 15ARC, Fukuoka, has been the home for the series of International Symposia on Earth Reinforcement (IS-Kyushu) since 1988 under the auspices of IGS. IGS is one of the sister societies of ISSMGE; and the Mercer Lecture by Prof. Jorge Zornberg, current IGS president, will be presented at 15ARC.
