Geosynthetics mining conference issues call for papers

Feb. 24 deadline for technical session abstracts.

The Geosynthetics Mining Solutions 2014 conference, organized by InfoMine, will be held Sept. 8-11 at the Hyatt Regency in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. The subtitle for the conference is “Performance, Durability, and Cost Savings.”

Monday, Sept. 8, is reserved for full-day short courses, followed by three days of keynote speakers and technical sessions. Abstracts for technical session papers are due by Monday, Feb. 24, and should be based on the following themes:

• Geosynthetics solutions for mine waste disposal facilities: tailings, heap leach facilities, waste rock dumps
• Geosynthetics solutions for civil structures at mines: pools and ponds, roads, retaining walls
• Geosynthetics solutions for mine backfilling: paste backfilling, flow control, blasting response
• Geosynthetics solutions for mine challenges: virulent fluids, harsh environments, perpetual performance
