Goal is to grow the Canadian geotextile, erosion control markets
Winston–Salem, N.C.–based Hanes Geo Components announced in a Nov. 26 press release that it has reached an agreement to acquire a Canadian company, A&R Geosynthetics Inc.
Located in Dundas, Ontario, A&R Geosynthetics was founded by Wes Anderson and Fraser Robinson in 2009.
The press release stated: “Since establishing their business, Wes and Fraser have developed a reputation for consistently providing site work developers with high quality stabilization and erosion control products. Wes and Fraser now take on the responsibility of leading Hanes Geo Components’ efforts in growing sales within the Canadian market.”
John Dowdell, president of Hanes Geo Components, said: “With [its] focus on distribution of geotextile and erosion control products, A&R is an excellent operational fit with Hanes Geo Components. Through this acquisition we have also gained outstanding managerial talent, which we will be heavily relying on to assist us in growing our market position in Canada.”
Jerry Greene, president of Hanes Companies said: “This acquisition is a continuance of our ongoing strategy to develop a North American distribution network for geotextile and erosion control products. The press release noted that Hanes Geo Components currently distributes geotextile and erosion control products through 30 North American locations. It is a business segment of Hanes Companies, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leggett & Platt. With corporate revenues of $3.7 billion, Leggett & Platt has more than 18,000 employees at 130 manufacturing facilities in 18 countries.
