AEG looking at ‘the next phase’ of company’s growth

Ohio-based American Environmental Group Ltd. (AEG) announced in a Jan. 4 press release that it has been acquired by Tetra Tech of Pasadena, Calif.

Founded 10 years ago, AEG has grown into one of the largest specialty environmental design, construction, and maintenance companies in the U.S., the release said. AEG will join Tetra Tech’s Remediation and Construction Management (RCM) segment.

In his press release announcing the acquisition, Dan Batrack, Tetra Tech’s chairman and CEO said: “Together with AEG, we can provide engineering-procurement-construction (EPC) solutions for industrial clients. These clients include landfill operators, as well as mining and power clients that face specialty disposal challenges. Service to solid waste and utility clients, which is less susceptible to economic volatility, has been a steady and growing part of Tetra Tech’s business.”

With AEG’s multiple offices around the U.S. and more than 500 personnel in the field, its growth has accelerated considerably in the past three years, according to its press release. The release noted that recent, complementary acquisitions in the geosynthetics installation, and power management and supply markets have broadened the company’s client base and enhanced client support and responsiveness.

Carl Apicella, AEG’s president, said: “Several years ago, the leadership team at AEG initiated a focused search for the ideal partner to help continue our very successful growth pattern, while enhancing our service offerings to our growing customer base. We found the ideal partnership with Tetra Tech. We are proud to become a Tetra Tech company and excited for the future.”

AEG’s press release noted that the company will retains its core leadership and experts, and it will continue to operate under its own name, in line with other construction and engineering-related Tetra Tech companies.

Founded in 2002, AEG provides specialty environmental services, operating both nationally and internationally from a platform of operations centers throughout the U.S. Headquartered in Richfield, Ohio, the company has approximately 500 employees.

Tetra Tech is a provider of consulting, engineering, program management, construction management, and technical services. It currently has more than 14,000 employees worldwide.
