Inspection checklist templates are now available online
The Stormwater Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) has drafted a new maintenance agreement for use by state and local government agencies to set ordinances requiring the maintenance of all stormwater best management practices (BMPs).
In a Nov. 12 press release, the SEMA said stormwater BMPs are practices—land-based, proprietary, or natural—hat provide a level of treatment or storage to improve the water quality of a watershed. These practices, in one form or another, are installed on every projec—practices that require routine inspection and maintenance, according to the release.
A sample Operation and Maintenance Agreement is contained in this document, which also includes templates for inspection checklists for each type of BMP, including water quality buffers. The press release noted that the inspection checklists can also serve as an inspection report for each facility. The templates are general guidelines that can be modified by the design engineer or plan designer as needed for site-specific conditions.
