Huesker families celebrate 150-year anniversary

Food, entertainment, tours help celebrate milestone

On Aug. 25, some 300 Huesker employees, together with their families and friends, attended Family Day 2012 to celebrate the company’s 150th anniversary.

As described in a company press release: “Just before midday, security staff cordoned off part of the fabrikstrasse, which connects the company premises to the festival grounds. In addition to the festively decorated party tent, which had been set up the day before, various attractions were ready for a total of nearly 700 guests.”

The release noted highlights of the festivities: recognition of local dignitaries from the town of Gescher, an 8m-high climbing tower, characters made by a balloon artist, and a visit by Mister Ice Cream. The Family Day also included culinary delights ranging from suckling pig to other regional and Mediterranean specialties.

Another highlight of the event was a factory tour: Huesker opened the gates and for the first time in the 150-year history of the company, visitors viewed the production area, the certifying laboratory, a special products exhibition, and also new offices.

“The Family Day was a great success right across the board,” said Pia Möllers, Huesker marketing. “We were particularly pleased to see how our colleagues and their families were actively involved and the great interest they took in the event.”
