Geomembrane at Hall Quarry Beach

News | August 1, 2012 | By:

Swimmers who enjoy the Hall Quarry Beach in suburban Chicago experienced pleasant conditions this summer. After residents expressed concern over the cold temperatures at the Quarry, the Batavia Park District sought ideas to remedy the situation.

Construction commenced in fall 2011, including installation of a geomembrane liner, designed to prevent water from leaking out of the Quarry and, in turn, maintaining a consistent water temperature. In addition to a more consistent water temperature, patrons also enjoyed a longer swimming season.
