ASTM International announced in a March 20 press release that it will host an online forum to discuss the coordination of standards activity relative to commercial scale hydraulic fracturing.
The April 30, 2012, forum is open to the public and free of charge. Stakeholders at all levels of commercial hydraulic fracturing applications are encouraged to participate, the release stated.
Registration for the online session is available here.
Hydraulic fracturing (commonly termed “fracking”) is the process of pumping pressurized water into underground oil and gas reserves to fracture the surrounding (usually shale) rock to allow extraction of the oil or gas.
