Wisconsin city receives gift from Propex

News | October 1, 2008 | By:

Lake Delton, Wis., has accepted donation of geosynthetic material that could help several of the city’s civil engineering projects.

Tennessee-based Propex offered the small Wisconsin Dellsarea town $100,000 worth of erosion-control material. Earlier this year, the artificial “lake” in Lake Delton disappeared in the wake of devastating flooding in central Wisconsin.

Propex donated 5,000yd2 of the geosynthetic material that has also been used in rehabilitated areas of New Orleans. The only costs to the town are for labor used during installation of the material.

The system consists of strong, nondegradable fabric mats that are anchored to the ground.

The system is particularly useful on steep slopes and around levies and dams. The material is not designed for submerged use.
