News | November 26, 2010 | By:

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Georg Heerten of NAUE was elected chairman of the German Geotechnical Society (DGGT) at its 31st biennial conference Nov. 3–6 in Munich.

Prof. Heerten succeeds Prof. Manfred Nussbaumer in the DGGT leadership position. The DGGT is one of the largest national geotechnical societies in the world and its “Baugrundtagung” (German Geotechnical Conference) features strong participation from both technical sessions and the exhibit hall, according to a NAUE press release.

Prof. Heerten’s chairmanship comes at an auspicious time. As his four-year term begins, the DGGT is planning its 32nd Baugrundtagung in Mainz (2012) as well as the co-location of its 33rd Baugrundtagung in Berlin (2014) in concert with the 10th International Conference on Geosynthetics (10 ICG), the release stated.
