The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) will hold its annual Geospatial Information Systems for Transportation or GIS-T Symposium April 7-10 in Portland, Ore.

The 2025 AASHTO GIS-T Symposium is the premier event for geospatial professionals to share how they harness the power of GIS technologies to solve complex transportation problems; providing tools for managing and analyzing traffic data, which helps improve efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
The GIS-T Symposium will offer three tracks – Asset Management, Planning, and Model Inventory of Roadway Elements (MIRE) with Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Building Information Modeling (BIM) –allowing participants to choose the most relevant sessions for their needs.
The meeting also serves as a peer exchange, helping GIS professionals from national, state, and local transportation agencies, as well as industry partners, to exchange insights and discover innovations that can enhance GIS-T skills and services.
The 2025 AASHTO GIS-T Symposium will also feature keynote speaker Amanda Pietz, administrator of the policy, data, and analysis division at the Oregon Department of Transportation; the strategy, policy and planning arm of the agency. Pietz’s division is leading efforts to implement Oregon DOT’s Strategic Action Plan, which focuses on building a modern transportation system that is equitable and has sufficient and reliable funding for the future.
The four-day GIS-T Symposium will also feature a wide array of peer presentations, workshops, roundtables, and industry demos, covering key trends like BIM/Digital Delivery, AI in transportation, and federal updates.
