NTPEP’s audit program for geotextiles provides that all manufacturers are held to the same standards.

South Carolina-based Thrace Linq Inc. announced in a Jan. 21 press release that it had successfully completed a new industry quality compliance standard for geotextile manufacturing.

In 2012, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), in conjunction with its National Transportation Product Evaluation Program (NTPEP), developed a geotextile audit. The program includes an industry-wide compliance standard for geotextile prime manufacturers and private label manufacturers.

The program provides assurance that geosynthetic materials used by regulatory agencies are produced and tested to high quality standards. The press release noted that Thrace Linq, Summerville, S.C., completed its first on-site audit of this program last month.

Thrace’s managing director and vice president of operations, Davis Taylor, congratulated the company’s work assembly for receiving this industry certification:

“On December 31, 2012, AASHTO’s NTPEP completed its audit of materials and processing used by Thrace Linq to manufacture needle-punched nonwoven fabrics for the geotextiles market, complying with AASHTO’s NTPEP Geotextiles Technical Committee Work Plan,” Taylor said.
