Hello, Mr. President?

Seventh-grader Tayla Silva, daughter of Engineered Polymer Technologies vice president of sales and marketing, Ed Silva, was invited to “call the president” during the Geosynthetic Materials Association’s Lobby Day April 17.

While GMA members and guests visited the Capitol Hill office of Rep. John Duncan (R-Tenn.), the congressman chatted with Tayla and then prompted her pose at his desk for a souvenir photo.

During the annual GMA Lobby Day this year, members and guests visited more than two dozen Washington, D.C., offices to connect U.S. senators, representatives, and their staffs with the geosynthetics community.

Rep. Duncan and Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R-N.J.) received Friend of GMA plaques earlier this year for coauthoring a letter to the U.S. Government Accountability Office that requested funding for a study regarding the cost-benefit of using geosynthetic materials.
