Hanes Geo Components announces acquisition of JMD Company

Hanes Geo Components, of Winston Salem, N.C., announced they have reached an agreement to acquire Johnston Morehouse Dickey Company (JMD). JMD is a geosynthetics and mine ventilation manufacturing and supply company headquartered in Bethel Park, Pa. JMD was founded in 1902 and was owned and operated by the Forse family. JMD is a leader in the distribution of a wide range of geosynthetic fabrics, grids and erosion control products in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. Mark and Scott Forse have agreed to continue leading the operations for the combined JMD/Hanes Geo Components operations in the states currently serviced by JMD.

Jerry Greene, president of Hanes Companies, said, “This acquisition significantly increases Hanes Geo Components’ market position in states serviced by JMD’s six distribution locations. JMD’s product focus and commitment to customer service are well aligned with those of our existing Hanes Geo Components operations. Hanes Companies and our parent company, Leggett & Platt, remain fully committed to growing our Geo Components distribution network.”

Speaking on behalf of the JMD team, JMD president Mark Forse said, “We are excited to join the Hanes team. Our company has been built on a strong foundation of providing technical support and a high level of service to our customers. These are core values we see within the Hanes team as well. We anticipate a smooth operational transition followed by a renewed commitment to grow our position within markets we serve.”
