Officine Maccaferri is expanding its industrial footprint in India through the development of what will become the group’s second-largest manufacturing facility worldwide. To support the next phase of growth, Varun Sikand will lead the India Region.
After almost 30 years of presence in the country, India has become one of the group’s main growth drivers, supported by strong business expansion, significant infrastructure market potential, and the country’s industrial and commercial development prospects. The new plant will be located in Khandale and built on an area of approximately 400,000 sq. ft. It will significantly increase production volumes, manufacturing complexity and market coverage and enhance Maccaferri’s capabilities across geosynthetics, double-twist and rockfall protection solutions.
To lead this new phase, Sikand will assume the role of Head of India Region and Managing Director of MESPL (Maccaferri Environmental Solutions Pvt. Ltd.). Sikand will be responsible for the overall leadership of the region, with the aim of consolidating business growth, strengthening the Group’s market presence and supporting the development of its industrial and commercial activities in the country. Sikand succeeds Vikramjiet Roy, who has recently been appointed Head of Global Sales Performance & Strategy of the Group, reporting directly to Group CEO Stefano Susani.
“India is one of Maccaferri’s most strategic growth markets,” saidSusani. “The new manufacturing facility – set to become the second-largest in our global network – marks a major step in our expansion plan and will strengthen our ability to support the country’s infrastructure and industrial transformation. As India gains further scale and relevance within the Group, Varun’s appointment will provide experienced leadership and stronger local execution. His track record and deep understanding of the local market make him the ideal figure to guide India through this next phase of growth.” “I am honoured to lead the India Region at such an important moment in the Group’s development,” saidSikand. “The country offers significant opportunities in terms of infrastructure growth, and the investment in a new plant represents a major step forward in expanding our presence in the country. Our objective will be to further strengthen our execution capabilities and the country’s contribution to Maccaferri’s global growth.”
