Webinar – Castle Rock Reservoir: Utilizing Reinforced LLDPE – October 29

News | October 24, 2025 | By:

Join Advanced Textiles Association and Viaflex for an in-depth look at the Castle Rock Reservoir project, where reinforced LLDPE geomembranes were critical to the success of a complex, multi-phase construction effort.

The webinar will be presented at 1 pm EDT October 29.

Due to the scale of the project, a fabricated modular construction method was selected to improve both quality control and installation speed. The primary challenge was expanding the town’s raw water storage capacity without taking the existing reservoir offline.

With a constrained job site and limited soil availability, the new reservoir was initially constructed to only half its final height. Once the first lift was completed, the new reservoir was brought online, allowing the failing original reservoir to be taken out of service.

HEI, the general contractor, removed the deteriorating polyurea liner from the original reservoir and excavated additional soil to reinforce the new reservoir’s banks—adding 22 feet of depth. The project is now in phases 2 and 3, which include relining the enlarged original reservoir and lining the expanded banks of the new reservoir.
